Giving Up Is Not An Option

My journey to vegetarianism began exactly two weeks ago. A close friend, who is a vegan (no dairy, no eggs), filled my head with various foods I could enjoy, minus the meat. He also gave me some gorey details about what's in our meats (growth horomones). He's been meat-dairy-egg free for six years now. In fact, his wife and three young children are vegans. My friend informed me that his wife had smooth pregnancies with their last two children. She took no medication and felt an overall difference from her first pregnancy. At the time of their oldest son's birth, they were not quite full fledged vegans. She attributes her veagn lifestyle as the reason for being able to breeze through the operating room.
As with everything in life, change is tough. It is with great hope that life as a vegetarian will bring about positive changes (and maybe some weight loss).
For me, the first step is acknowledging that this won't be easy; I will have many failures and successes. One thing is for sure, giving up is not an option.
So far, I haven't missed meat, but since I still include dairy and eggs in my diet, I feel as though I'm not sacraficing a lot.

The Necessary Challange

Have you ever wanted to challenge yourself in a way that would help you change for the better? The urge to be better, stronger and wiser started with monitoring my health, furthermore trying to get physically fit. Deciding to become a vegetarian did not happen overnight. I was influenced by close friends who have nothing but positive commentary regarding the vegan lifestyle. My knowledge on vegetarianism is limited, but I'm open-minded, eager to learn more about this part of our culture. The most interesting aspect of this journey is finding other African American vegetarians, who share the same rhetoric.

How does one become a vegetarian?
